Help Identifying Antique Brunswick Pool Table with Monarch Cushion Nameplate

Help Identifying Antique Brunswick Pool Table with Monarch Cushion Nameplate

This antique Brunswick pool table belonged to my Father-in-Law. He has passed on and we have become the new owners.

I love the look of the pool table and was hoping you could help me identify the model, it's age, and tell me any other useful information about it.

The name plate says:

Monarch Cushion
The Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co
Chicago San Francisco New York Cincinnati
Made in the U.S.A.

I see that the Brunswick "Monarch" pool table model was built in 1875, but it talks about lion's head table legs, which mine does not have. This pool table is definitely not like that. Also, I read somewhere that sometimes the Brunswick Monarch brand bumpers were used on different pool tables.

The paper in the last photo looks like it says "STAMOS" and the other piece says "GEORG".

I thought it would be best to ask you guys because I'm not coming up with much.

Your pool table appears to be from the early 1900s, and is either a Brunwsick Saratoga pool table or a Brunswick Newport pool table. I'm fairly certain it is the latter, circa 1905-1907, give or take a year or two.

The Saratoga is a slightly higher-end model whereas the Newport is an economical version having the same style but less beefy construction methods underneath the hood.

Here's a video on how to tell the difference between the Brunswick Saratoga and Brunswick Newport pool tables:

Rather than repeat the information here, I will point you to a few other posts with detailed answers. These will have some catalog photos, and technical details on the two Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co. pool table models:
