Value of Originals Meucci MO-5 Cue

Value of Originals Meucci MO-5 Cue

I have what I believe to be a original MO-5 based on the comments in this forum.

I'd love to know how much a mint Meucci Originals MO-5 cue is worth?

Great story behind it:

I purchased this Meucci Originals cue from a "one armed pool shark & billiard instructor" named Skip back in the 1980's. The cue was said to be 20 years old at the time of purchase making it now 50 something I guess.

It's near mint. I played with it in pool halls and bars over the years and now it's been in storage for the past 25 years.

It isn't an MO-5 cue. It looks to be an Meucci Originals MO-4 1/2 cue.

The collar (black part at joint) has obviously been replaced at some point. Nice cue. It would be closer to 40 years old than 50.

    Here's the original brochure.

You're probably right about it being a Meucci Originals MO-4 1/2.

I find it hard to believe that it has had any modifications however. It is truly mint. I guess it must have since the brochure didn't show my exact configuration.

Do you have an idea of what this Meucci Originals MO 4 1/2 cue would be worth if I decide to sell it?

If it were in mint condition and had the original joint collar, it would fetch between $400 and $500. There are enough of these around in great condition which keeps the values down compared with other more rare Meucci Originals cues from the series and era.

In my records, $450 seems to be the average for mint-condition versions. $200 or so for the more beat-up or incorrectly restored versions.

Having a Frankenstein joint collar is a big issue for Meucci Originals collectors, and those are the folks who would pay top dollar.

Even still, these Meucci Originals from this era have a solid following and you should still be able to get a decent price for it.

I would start high and guage interest. Try eBay and the Meucci Collectors Facebook groups. There are a few, and they are easy to find using Facebook search.

Good luck and let us know how the sale goes.

I would recommend sending it off to Scott Erwin and have him fix the black collar and put a fresh coat of clear on it.

He's the top refinisher of Meucci Originals.
