Dufferin Crown Cue Thrift Find Turning Out to Be Unique
I found this pool cue for cheap at a thrift shop, and didn't think much of it at the time. I was just building my cue collection and thought it would be a good house cue to keep my less experienced friends away from my better cues.
I saw the little Canadian Dufferin "CD" logo, but there was no Dufferin maple leaf insignia anywhere to be found. I brought it home and realized that it is about 60 inches long. I tried it out and found immediately that it was the best feeling pool cue I've ever used.
I've done a bit of research and have found that it is a Dufferin "Crown" cue, based on the coat of arms inlay, and based on the extra length.
One user on this site referred to these as the "creme de la creme" of collectible Dufferin cues, however all of those that I found still had the color-coded maple leaf inlay, which this does not.
Any insight into the age/story of this seemingly unique Dufferin crown cue?
Thanks in advance!

billiardsforum on 2/26/2026 8:41:52 AMThat's an interesting Dufferin cue. I've not seen one like this before.
There are several big differences I can spot between yours and the several other examples shown in other questions here:
The differences I can spot include:
- Different bumper (though it could simply be a replacement on yours, or, it might just be the photos making them appear different).
- The absence of the round inlays at the base of the points on your cue (one of the other cues in the links above has it, and one does not - so that doesn't help)
- The coat of arms is vastly different on yours vs. the on the other two e.g. the borders above and below the shield, the shield itself, the background color, etc.
- The absence of the Dufferin leaf logo on your cue, as you pointed out. BUT - if you look at my first answer on the 2nd question above, you can see another "no leaf" version.
Also on that 2nd link above, note the quote from a Dufferin cue collector (emphasis ours):
It is a Dufferin Crown cue (Dufferin Imperial series cue). I have four of them and there are some out there with different colored shields as well. These are quite rare now too and really hard to find. Especially the ones with the two colors. I would date this cue to the late 1980s early 1990s. All of mine are ebony as well and I've never seen one that was not. Usually, they run a bit longer in length as well, I do not have one to show of the two colors and I am still searching for one. They have a blue and red shield on the one I'm looking for.
Is the upper right quadrant of your shield blue (or black)? I can't tell from the photo.
Could you share a clear photo of the butt sleeve with the coat of arms design, and also one of the join pin with the cue and shaft separated?
