Shimming Pool Table Pockets with Neoprene Rubber

Shimming Pool Table Pockets with Neoprene Rubber

If you need to add shims to the pocket-facing, and you don't want to go through the trouble of extending the sub-rails, then get some 60 durometer neoprene rubber. I used 1/4" material on my Minn Billiard Company Pool Table so the pockets will be about 4 1/2".

It's an excellent compromise. The neoprene has bounce and so the ball won't go dead when hitting the point like when you use a hard-rubber pocket facing material. The trick is sanding it to fit the profile of the cushion. When the cloth is on, you won't be able to tell.

Here's a photo of the 1/4", 60 durometer neoprene rubber material I used to shim the pockets without having to extend the sub-rails.
