Brunswick Table Identification and Year
I would appreciate any information on this 8' Brunswick table such as model, date, etc.
I'm told that this pool table came from a pool hall in East St. Louis, MO that was shut down in the 1940's, but maybe not?
Thank You!

billiardsforum on 2/28/2026 9:23:11 AMYour pool table appears to be a Brunswick Eclipse model circa 1905.
Rather than re-post the details here, I'll point you to another earlier question about the same Brunswick pool table model:
Also, I notice something about the legs. It's hard to tell from the photos (but you can probably get a sense for it when you look at the pool in person), do the bottom half of the legs on your table look like they are modified or even from a different pool table altogether?
As you can imagine, the bottom half of the legs on a pool table in a busy pool hall tended to get damaged quite badly, and many were repaired, replaced, etc. That could be the case here. But either way, I believe it to be the Brunswick Eclipse model.

Thank you for your response!
Your observations are right on target including the legs. When we got the table there were sheet metal kickplates around the legs and much of the veneer was gone. We wrapped it with some red leather we had at the time as a quick fix. I just changed it to brown leather so it doesn't get attention.
Here is the patent label on mine. They added a 1909 patent at the bottom.

That pretty much solidifies that we're on the right track!
So that puts it at, most likely, 1910-ish.
Even the Brunswick archives doesn't have many photos or any info on this version of the Eclipse pool table. There was an earlier, similar model (except with intricate marquetry and inlays) called the eclipse, from much earlier, circa 1880 (when it was just the J.M. Brunswick Balke Co).
You can see it's style it very similar though, except for the legs (which match those of the 1915-ish similar "Challenge" model), inlay, and bump-out center piece on the apron.
...and the 1883 version:
Either way, it's a great Antique Brunswick Balke-Collender pool table you have, thanks for sharing!
