Identify Coin Operated Pool Table Manufacturer - Valley 78?

Identify Coin Operated Pool Table Manufacturer - Valley 78?

I need help identifying the maker of this old coin-op pool table.

I bought this coin-operated pool table 20 years ago from a store in Dallas called Bebops Juke box and Billiards. They did the conversion on it and are no longer in business. It used to be an old bar pool table. It measures 6.5' x 3' (78" x 48").

Trying to find out what brand and model it is, from the web it appears to be a Valley 78?

It may be hard to know for sure depending on how much "conversion" was done by the retailer you bought from.

Here is an original Valley 78 pool table from another post. You may have already seen it. Different style legs.

    A couple of questions:

    • When you say "20 years ago" do you literally mean 1998? Or older? I think the table itself is much older. Probably ~50 years old.
    • Have you opened up all of the compartments and searched for any markings, symbols, or clues?
    • Have you inspected underneath the pool table for the same?

I am pretty sure it would have been a Valley Cougar / "Big Cat" pool table from the 1970s but because of the conversion I can't tell for sure. There are a ton of them on eBay right now. Here is the "7-foot" model:

Here are some brochures from the era (1970) and the leg and apron style match almost 100%, as to the rails and trim.

Could the measurements actually be 78" x 45" (vs 78" x 48" as you mentioned)? If so, it could be either of the following 78" x 45" Valley coin-op models which seem to match your design:

    Valley "Big Cat" Models:

    • Valley model 15 - Push Chute (1975)
    • Valley model 15DC - Drop Chute (1975)
    • Valley model 17 - Push Chute (1977)
    • Valley model 17DC - Drop Chute (1977)

    Valley "Cougar" Models

    • Valley model 19 - Push Chute (1979-1982)
    • Valley model 19DCM - Drop Chute Mechanism (1979-1982)
    • Valley model 19DCMB - Drop Chute Mechanism with "Bonus" and "Time-Play" Features (1979-1982)

These were all 78" x 45" and were commonly referred to as "3x6 foot" or "6x3 foot" pool tables.
