Can we Message Other Users on the Site?

Is there a way to message other people on the site?

I see in my profile that I have "100 people reached" but I don’t know if I can message anyone.

    Currently there is no way to send a private message to another user of the site.

    We did have the ability to send private messages in the past, but it was used very little, and was abused by spammers.

    We're planning to implement this in the future, but because of the above noted issues, it is a low priority on the feature list.

    Okay, if we cant message other users directly, is it all possible for Billiards Forum to reach out to a user, simply saying "another user is trying to contact you"?

    I know about privacy rules and regulations, but I'm just asking.

    The user I want to contact has a Meucci cue that I'd like to buy, but they haven't been on here in over two years. There was no email posted to the "for sale" thread or anything, and they didn't answer the other person trying to buy it.

    @Alec Blackington - Normally we'd do that.

    However, for the specific user you are trying to connect with (del00009132), that's simply not possible.

    For the benefit of others who come across this, here's why:

    When the username begins with del followed by 8 digits, it means that sometime in the past, the original user requested their personally identifiable info be removed.

    When that happens, the system replaces the actual values (e.g. name, email, username, etc.) with dummy values. That’s why their username begins with “del”.

    Once those requests are processed, it is as though our systems have “forgotten” all of that user’s PII, so even site administrators can’t get in touch with that user.
