Definition of Steering
Steering is a billiards slang term that is a part of Billiard Technique Terminology.
Steering is the undesirable practice of neglecting to follow through on shots with a straight cue, and instead, allowing it veer off in the direction of the shot's travel, the side of english as applied, or generally in a direction that is away from the proper aiming line. This is apparently a very common source of missed shots.
Steering can be diagnosed by having a friend observe your complete stroke, or videotape your own stroke from above and play it back for analysis.
