Definition of Shape Shot

Shape Shot is a billiards term that is a part of Billiard Technique Terminology.

A shape shot is a type of billiard shot that exhibits great cue ball positioning and control skills on the part of the shooting player. If a player is able to execute a shot in which the cue ball comes to rest in a perfect position with respect to the remaining object ball's position, that player is said to have great shape going into the next shot. For this reason, that type of shot is considered a shape shot.

He's just made a great shape shot, as you can see he is in perfect position to sink the six ball in the corner pocket.
