Definition of Out Ball

Out Ball is a billiards slang term that is a part of Scoring Terminology.

An out ball is any object ball that if pocketed without scratching would represent the last ball you would need to reach a winning score. The out ball is your game-winning ball when you are in the one hole.

You should try to return a safety on the 8 ball, so that is his out ball.
