Definition of Double Hit
Double Hit is a billiards term that is a part of Billiard Technique Terminology.
A double hit is an illegal shot whereby the cue stick's tip strikes the cue ball twice in the same stroke.
Double hit strokes occur most often when the cue ball is extremely close to the object ball. The shooting player can not move the cue stick away from the cue ball fast enough. The cue stick is still driving forward as follow through at the same speed as in the beginning of the shot, but when the cue ball strikes the target object ball, it slows, causing the cue to catch up with it and hit it again.
