Learn how to set up the billiard trick shot called the "stack the rack" trick shot.

The "Stack the Rack" Trick Shot

The stack the rack billiard trick shot is a bit of a trick on the viewer (and thus worth a possible bet).

Stack the rack takes a bit of actual pool playing skill and is probably a lot more impressive than some simpler billiard trick shots.

For this shot, you’ll need the rack and a decent bit of practice.

  1. Set the 2 through 5 balls up in a line in numerical order with the 2 just on the edge of the side middle pocket and the rest lined up touching each other directly behind it in a line toward the opposite pocket.
  2. Set the 6 ball just on the edge of the opposite pocket in line with the 2 through 5 balls.
  3. Set the 1 ball about five inches behind the 5 ball in line with the 6.
  4. Then put the cue ball about halfway between the 6 and the 1 balls.
  5. Here’s your betting chance again. Tell your followers and/or friends (you do at least have those right?) that you can pocket the 2 through 5 balls and the 6 without touching the 1 ball. Let them stew on this for a while, and don’t mention, touch or even look at the ball rack. That noise will give this away immediately.
  6. Once you’ve bet your life’s savings on you being awesome, place the rack around the 1 ball so that the back side is flat against the invisible line running down the center of the table (the long string, it’s called) and the tip (point of the rack) is against the 5 ball in line with the rest of the balls.
  7. Shoot the cue ball directly at the back center of the rack. If done right, this should push the rack forward into the 2-5 balls, pocketing them, while also causing the cue to rebound directly back into the 6 ball, pocketing it.
  8. Become rich and instantly attract the attention of the hottest person in the bar.
