There are multiple slate filler materials one can use to fill slate seams or repair pool table slate chips. Four common materials to use to fill seams in pool table slate include:

  • Bee's Wax
  • Water Putty
  • Bondo
  • Auto Body Filler

Precisely follow the mixing instructions on the material you choose to use. Spread the material as smooth as possible with a 4" putty knife.

If the cracks or seams are large force some filler material into the seam or crack about ΒΌ of an inch then continue to smooth. You do not have to fill holes or cracks that are not in the playing area (e.g. those which occur under the rails).

After filler material has dried, sand out any lumps, bumps, or tool marks if needed. Brush away any debris from slate prior to installing cloth.

Small imperfections will generally not be noticed once the bed cloth is installed.

Note: Consult a qualified pool table installer or repair technician if you are inexperienced or unsure of any part of the process.
