Moving a Full Assembled Fischer 1-Piece Slate Pool Table

Moving a Full Assembled Fischer 1-Piece Slate Pool Table

Can I safely move a fully-assembled pool table?

I'm buying an old Fisher pool table with a 1-piece slate. They have the pool table tipped up on 3 small skids or dollies as shown in the photo below.

It seems we can just roll it out of the garage and onto a box truck. I'd rather not take it apart.

I would love to hear your thoughts. What do you think?

Most professional pool table service technicians would tell you never to do that.

The main issue you could run into is breaking the slate, especially where it's a one-piece slate. It wouldn't take much to crack that.

The pool table isn't designed to support the slate when it's on it's side. It'll flex in ways that it wouldn't when standing flat on it's feet.

Then again, if it's a short distance, and you take extra care, you might be OK.

Let us know what you decide and how it goes.
