Vintage Brunswick-Balke-Collender Carom Billiard Table

Vintage Brunswick-Balke-Collender Carom Billiard Table

My father-in-law inherited two vintage pool tables from his father. He wants to sell both of them, but there is no label, plate or other marking to identify the models.

This one I will show below is most likely is from Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company.

The story goes:

  1. This carom table, which is possibly from the early 1900s, was from a bar in Eureka, CA
  2. It was then purchased by a private owner and stored in the victorian village of Ferndale, CA.
  3. It was recovered in 1950 and restored at that time.
  4. A few years ago, new felt and cushions were added by Capitol Billiard out of Sacramento, CA.

Any info you can provide such as the Brunswick Billiards model name and approximate value will be appreciated.

The carom table's current location is near Redding, CA. Photos for one of the two tables are below:

I do not recognize this as being an antique Brunswick carom table.

    • It has "rams-head" style legs which wouldn't have been common (or found at all) on Brunswick pool tables of that time.
    • The restoration was perhaps of poor quality. The woods don't appear to match at all, and some trim may have been added which perhaps wasn't original (perhaps to hide either poor workmanship or for other reasons).
    • I am not seeing this design at all in the Brunswick Balke-Collender archives.
    • From the photos, it almost looks like the rails (top and side) from one particular pool table, and the bottom (skirting and legs) from a totally different table. Perhaps parts have been mismatched.

This doesn't mean it isn't a Brunswick Balke-Collender carom table for sure, but it is just my initial opinion based on the photos.

Are you able to make out any text at all on the name plate? I can't tell from the photos.
