Info on Brunswick Gold Crown III Model "JD" Pool Table

I have a 9-foot Brunswick Gold Crown III model "JD" pool table.

I've not been able to find anything online with the "JD" model designation.

Has anyone else?

Yes. I have the Brunswick "JD" model Gold Crown 3 pool table.

They made the "JD" model which has the "elite black" finish. The "AK" model is the same, but with a wood grain finish.

They made them in 1996. They came with or without the silent ball return, which mine has. I believe the "JD" model is the rarer of the two.

Classic Billiards has the manual on it for $20.

It's a great pool table. I believe one of the best ever. That black table with purple felt is off the charts. It makes a statement. They made them with bronze or chrome pockets and feet. The chrome is a much cooler color by far.

You got a grade A+ table.

I hope that helps. Good luck.

This is great information! Thank you.

I was thinking that there must be more to it than just the style or finish, because they make separate manuals, and service manuals, etc. for each variation.

That fact makes me think that there must be some fundamental differences in how the tables are built.

Thank you for responding. That’s the first, first hand information I’ve received on my question from months of researching.

My JD model is black, did come with the ball return, and has the chrome finishes.

For a pool table that is 25 years old mine is incredibly clean. The chrome surfaces look almost new. I felt like I found a gem but I was concerned when I couldn’t find the JD model designation anywhere.

    Thank you again for responding!

@Paul Accardi or @user1645802114 - Could you please tell me how the silent ball return silences the ball noise?

I found this in an older post:

    Question:

Hi all! I have a GC3 with a ball return on it. Mark Gregory set up the table and everything is just like it should be, but the ball return system is giving me problems occasionally. I'd like suggestions on the following problems:

    [...]

    1. Noise. I know ball returns are noisy, but I'm soliciting any ideas or tricks others have used to quiet down their ball returns.

    Answer(s):

    1. Mine has that "rubberized" coating so it is relatively quiet. I have some extra Simonis cloth, thinking about lining mine to help keep the balls cleaner. Just wondering if what I sweep off the table into the pockets will eventually build up in there.
    2. My ball return box has some carpet in it, it was in there when I bought it and I guess it makes it really quiet. You just hear the click if there are a few balls in it to bounce around. Guess I got lucky when I bought my Gold Crown III as it had the rubber coated tracks and the carpet in the box.
