Here it is in the 1894 Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co. catalog:
Brunswick "The Chicago" Pool Table
- Year of Manufacture From 1890 To 1894
- Color Options: Mahogany or Oak
- Cushion Rubber: Monarch
This table, which is one of our latest productions, is exceedingly beautiful and pleasing in appearance, and has received unstinted praise wherever introduced. The fine dentil and beaded moldings on the sides, the rich, tasteful carvings, and the general excellence of the workmanship makes the Chicago a billiard table second to none. It is usually finished in plain, highly polished mahogany or oak, without inlaid work, but it can be finished to order in any kind of wood or finish required by purchasers.
Furnished either as a carrom or pool table or both combined. All combination tables have our patent adjustable carrom plugs, with iron fastenings.
All tables are fitted with Vermont slate bed from our own quarries, imported Simonis cloth, and the incomparable Monarch cushions.
The legs, besides being joined with wooden dowels, are fastened with a large iron bolt passing through the entire length of the leg to the top of the head block, thus insuring positive solidity.
