Stun Shot off the side Rail Drill
The aim of this drill is to keep control of the cue ball whilst alternating pots in the opposing corner pockets. This may seem hard at first, but once you get the hang of it, it makes your positional play improve drastically. This is one of the most common types of shots that appear in 9-ball, and if you can make them consistently, you should find yourself keeping control of the table for longer.
Begin with the cue ball at position A. Pot the 1-ball in the corner bag, striking a tip below center. You should hit the rail at approximately diamond 12, and the cue ball will float down the table for position B; from where you pot the 9 in the opposite corner, playing exactly the same shot as before - you should now be at position C, ready to play the 2 followed by the 10.
By obtaining position very close to D, E and F should give you a good chance of running the rest of the drill. Remember, if you make a mistake like miss a pot, reset from scratch and start again.
