I'm wondering which is best, a completely rounded cue tip or a flat, slightly rounded tip? I would assume that english would be much better with a flat, slightly rounded tip.

A rounded pool cue tip wouldn't be optimal for regular play. Perhaps a rounded tip may be beneficial for billiard trick shots but generally, the flat tips, slightly rounded, would be the best for game play.

And it has to be well chalked of course.

most suggest using a nickel or dime shaped tip, you'd get less action with a flat tip.
