Info on Lucasi "VIII" Pool Cue Signed by David Howard

I am trying to identify this Lucasi "VIII" pool cue that is signed by David Howard.

Any additional information about David Howard's association with Lucasi cues and the value of this cue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Here are the photos of my David Howard Lucasi cue:

You have a Lucasi L-SS1 pool cue from the Lucasi "Signature Series". This series was available from around 2000-2002.

At that time, Lucasi promoted several professional pool players, including Buddy Hall, Jeremy Jones, and to a lesser extent, David Howard. Each cue from the signature series features signatures from one of these players. David Howard's signature is featured on only this one model, Jeremy Jones on L-SS2 through L-SS6, and Buddy Hall on L-SS7 through L-SS11. The latter two pros were featured in several Lucasi brochures. David Howard, however, I don't believe was.

As you know the roman numerals indicate a date code, but its a horrible and flawed system that it's creators clearly didn't think through.

The date code "VIII" could represent any number of dates. Just to name a few of the most likely ones:

    • 6th month of 2002
    • 7th month of 2001
    • 8th month of 2000

However, whether it was made in 2000 or 2002 makes zero difference in it's value.

The Lucasi L-SS1 pool cue retailed $340 at that time, and is likely worth somewhere around this (or slightly less) today. It might command a bit more if the right collector of David Howard memorabilia came along, but even then, it's likely a "printed" signature so any additional collectible value is negligible.
