Helmstetter Cue with a Wooden Male Threaded Joint Pin

Helmstetter Cue with a Wooden Male Threaded Joint Pin

My Helmstetter cue has a male wooden thread.

Does that signify the age somehow?

I am not sure of the age. It may be 50 years old. It is a no-frills cue made from birds-eye maple that is just gorgeous. The cue is in beautiful condition.

However, I can hardly screw the cue together. I mean it is extremely hard to screw together. The wooden threaded end is in excellent condition. They look perfect.

I wonder if it would be safe to apply some linseed oil, soap, or something else to make it easier to thread up?

    It does not.

If it's a Helmstetter cue, I could guess that it's a wood joint pin, in which case it would likely be a carom cue or snooker cue.

For a better answer, upload clear well-lit photos of the Helmstetter cue.
