Find the Age of a Mali Cue
I just bought a Mali pool cue for $40. It was said to be about 40 years old.
Is there any way to see how old it is?

To determine the age of a pool cue, I usually try to identify the model and which series it belongs to. From that we can usually narrow down the age to the period in which the particular series was made and sold.
The closest I could find was a Mali G-8 cue from the Mali Gold Series, circa August 1989.

Thanks for the reply.
I know $40 was a great buy for the cue, but was just wondering the value of the Mali cue today?
I played with it last week and was very impressed by the quality of such an old cue. It cost me $25 to have a new tip installed, so I guess I’m going to learn how to re-tip my cues myself!
Thank you again.

Yeah, you did well at $40 for sure.
This is a basic Mali cue. It could sell for between $60 and $120, give or take.
With lower-end cues like this, specific model names don't really matter much in terms of value.
To get a better feel for it's value at any given time, you can search eBay "completed listings", look for cues similar to yours in complexity - e.g. no inlays, no points in the forearm, etc.
In fact, supporting my number is a recently completed sale for this exact Mali cue, from Clarkton, NC. It sold for $90, with a decent cue case.
