Loud Music While Playing Pool in Bars

Loud Music While Playing Pool in Bars

I think I need an epiphany. Lately I have been losing too many matches.

Despite the fact that I practice 10-15 hrs a week and my pool game seems to be getting better, I seem to be distracted by the loud music that pervades most of the bars my team plays in.

I am perfectly capable of slipping into my zone when playing to the point that everyone around is like a blur. It is my way. I neither talk to nor look at anyone. My eye never leaves the table.

I have to admit one thing: I have been changing my game approach to a more defensive one, and that may be effecting my rhythm on the table. Hmm, I never through of that until now.

Take a week off. Go back and you'll feel like you are on the top of the world. Trust me on that one. Bodybuilders do the same. Such a noticeable difference (i wish i could explain why).

That makes a lot of sense. I purposely left my stick home tonight when I went to work knowing full well that I would not use one of the community rooms ones. The time will let me rethink my new defensive approach to the game.

A week is a long time.

I know it feels like forever, but the feeling when you go back is so worth it!

Some time ago I heard about the book "The Inner Game of Tennis" and I saw it mentioned on another site. Have you ever heard of it? It seems that even though it was written for tennis it is applicable to other sports as well.

I find it difficult to take a week off when I play in the league twice a week plus I met a friend and played 14.1 for 3 hours. He pointed out a few flaws in my mechanics and I will work on them. I also bought the book "The Inner Game of Tennis" and am reading it. It is a very interesting book because although it is about tennis on one level the message can well be applied to anyone who engages in a singular sport. It is simply written and easy to grasp.

The book is about mastering your game (whatever it is) from the inside out. It is an easy read.

I have 3 weeks left in this league session and I may take a week off then.
