Best Flooring for Under a Pool Table

What is the best flooring for under a pool table?

I like the information you provide but the only thing I can't find is appropriate flooring for under a pool table. Is there anything that doesn't go well with a pool table as far ball damage if the ball is shot off the table?

More specifically, are pool tables and laminate flooring under a pool table a good match?

   As far as damaging the billiard balls, you have nothing to worry about (unless your floor is made of spiky material that might put "dings" in the ball).

   Mostly you have to worry about the bouncing pool ball damaging the flooring (as it can with ceramic tile, or a softwood floor).

   I've had balls get roughed-up when they've been launched or dropped onto a concrete floor, either outside or in a garage (and some basements?).

   Now I put down 4 area rugs that can be stored as needed.
