Cocobolo BMC Diamond Cue Prototype Info

Info on the Cocobolo BMC Diamond Cue Prototype

This cue is the earlier prototype version of the current BMC cocobolo diamond cue.

As seen on the forearm, there were two of these cues made. According to Jonathan Stafford, the two cues were finished some time in 2015.

  • 1 of 2 was first owned by Brian Delgrand. He put his cue up for sale, first in May 2018 for $4500. It didn't sell. Then it was for sale again in July 2018 for $2800, and later reduced to $2400. It sold at that price (or close to it). Buyer is unknown.
  • 2 of 2 is owned by Ruth Meucci, Bob's wife, Mr. Delgrand said in a post on a Meucci Collector's Facebook group.

Some of the inlays in these prototypes are mother-of-pearl. Apparently there was a tendency for the MOP to crack, and so now Meucci uses birdseye maple in the place of the mother-of-pearl on the newer cocobolo diamond cues they make. This generally means that an earlier cue with un-cracked mother-of-pearl inlays would be worth a bunch more as time goes on. Each of the two prototype BMC cocobolo diamond cues have mother-of-pearl inlays.
