The Billiards Cafe Ayer - Billiard Instruction

The Billiards Cafe is the home of the New England Billiard Academy. The academy is one of only six master academies in the United States sanctioned by the Billiard Congress of America (BCA). All instructors at the Billiards Café have successfully completed a BCA training program and are accredited by the BCA. For more information on the academies, the instructors and the instructor accreditation program, see www.bca-pool.com. Whether you have never played billiards, or have been playing for years and would like to take your game to a new level, the Billiards Café has a program for you.

Beginner Instruction

The beginners' class is designed for those who have never picked up a pool cue as well as for those who have played occasionally and would like to develop a "stroke". The class will meet twice, once a week for two hours. Class size is limited to 5-6 students, and classes will be scheduled when a minimum of 4 people have signed up. Sign up and meet new people or bring some of your friends and form your own group class. Either way, it's a great introduction to a sport that can be played for a lifetime. The cost of the beginners' class is $35 per person. Written materials are included.

Intermediate Instruction

This course is designed for the beginner to intermediate level student. It is assumed that you play on a regular basis and have developed certain skills as well as a consistent stroke. Often times the student is frustrated with his or her inability to improve regardless of the hours played or the efforts made. Perhaps you play in a league and are unhappy with your skill level. Maybe you are unable to make certain shots and do not understand why you are having difficulty. It is likely that adjustment of one or more of the "fundamentals" is in order. We will be reviewing these fundamentals in terms of stroke and some basic physics of cue ball and object ball collision. Additionally, we will discuss proper techniques of practice and develop a set of goals for the individual student. This class meets two hours a week for five weeks. It is limited in size to six students. For cost and scheduling information, contact Roy Pastor or Calvin Moore.

Private Instruction

Individual instruction is also available. For cost and scheduling information, contact Roy Pastor or Calvin Moore.
