The design of a cue can express many things about its owner. Often an individual will want to make his or her cue unique through the use of design and inlay. History of Schuler Cue

Basically story goes as follows: The original guy, Ray Schuler made cues for many years under SCHULER CUE, INC. (IL corp # 56712674) up to his death in November 2002. After this, Terry Trim bought the company and rights to the name Schuler Cue, etc. and made "Schuler Legacy Cues" (SLC) up until sometime early in 2009. Terry dissolved SCHULER CUE, INC. At this point he liquidated his plant and equipment, and no longer does the manufacturing. However, he still retains the rights (Under IL corp "SCHULER, LLC"). Now, the manufacturing is done at the Jacoby cue factory (309 Market St. Nekoosa, WI 54457), and the Shuler Legacy Cues are still being sold under the SLC name. I am sure I have missed parts of the story, but this is the gist/summary. There is a huge difference in value and demand for cues made by Ray himself (pre-2002, with Ray's signature) vs. "Schuler LEGACY Cues (SLC)" made after Ray's passing under management of Terry.
