About Kue & Karom Billiards, Inc

Sarasota Family Owned and Operated Since 1962

Kue & Karom Billiards is a family owned and operated Sarasota business that was established in 1962 by Art Leach.

Since that time, the Leach family have made customer service and satisfaction our primary foundation for doing business with pool players in and around Sarasota. We offer pool tables, pool cues, game room furniture, and billiards accessories.

We’ve been serving Southwest Florida with fun, entertaining furniture and outstanding service for 48 years.

World Champion Willie Mosconi at Kue & Karom Billiards

Willie Mosconi was a professional pool player and 15 time World Champion pocket billiard player. He played in a pool exhibition at our first location back in 1962. The first Kue & Karom Billiards was a recreation center for men and women that included pool tables, snooker tables, and a snack bar. He believed establishments like Kue & Karom Billiards helped build a positive reputation for pool.

“Take this place here,” he said in referring to the new Kue & Karom. “It is not a pool hall, it’s a recreation hall. It is this type of establishment, run by high-type individuals who have a substantial investment that will help remove the stigma of the old green-widowed pool hall.”

Jimmy Caras Exhibition at Kue & Karom Billiards

In 1967, Jimmy Caras put on an exhibition at our recreation center. Jimmy Caras was a 4-time World Champion pocket billiard player. He first gained fame in the pool sports world at the age of 17 when he defeated reigning world champion Ralph Greenleaf in an exhibition back in 1927. He defeated Willie Mosconi for the 1963 National Invitational Billiards title seen on the nationally televised “Wide Word of Sports” program.

Jimmy Caras demonstrated the fundamentals of pool. He also participated in exhibition matches with two pool players from Sarasota. He concluded his personal appearance with a display of trick shots and gave some personal instruction to attendees.
