Fatboy Billiards was the oldest pool hall in Minneapolis, MN up until the time it closed down. It also won a number of "best of" awards, including the City Pages "Best Place to Shoot Pool" award.

A good pool hall is about pool, and it carries a faint aroma of seediness and stale beer, and a pall of cigarette smoke hugs the ceiling. It's frequented by taciturn men (and women, but mostly men) who bring their own sticks in battered leather cases, dour old-timers and regulars who gather at the back tables and rack 'em for hours without saying much. Fat Boy Billiards, a Northeast institution, said to be the oldest pool hall in Minneapolis, fits the bill on all but two of those counts: This being Minneapolis, you won't find any cigarette smoke, and you can't get alcohol at Fat Boy, which is probably just as well. You will find two floors with 18 tables, where you can play for a reasonable fee of $5.50 an hour ($6 on weekends), or $8.50 for two players ($9 weekends). Sharks on a budget can take advantage of the daily special: Shoot all day, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., for $9.50.
