Definition of Drop Pockets

Drop Pockets is a billiards term that is a part of Pool Table Terminology.

Pockets that simply hold the balls as the shots are made. The opposite of that would be a table with a gully system. Drop pockets are usually cupped or netted pockets from which balls must be manually retrieved by players.

See: ball return, ball return system, gully system, gully table, bar table for more on the meaning of "Drop Pockets".

Drop Pockets - Usage

I hate these drop pockets, I knew I should have bought the pool table with the ball return system instead. With these drop pockets, I have to go an retrieve the balls from each individual pocket.
