Pool Table Next to Dining Room

In this photograph we can see that the old billiard room is adjacent to the dining room. Typically I wouldn't go for that type of situation when purchasing a home or creating a home billiard room, however this photograph seems to tell a story. Imagine you have all of your family over for Thanksgiving dinner. You finish a ridiculous amount of turkey and stuffing (and white wine) and dinner is winding down. Imagine all the guys getting up from the dining table, grabbing a drink of scotch (the desert kind) and gathering to shoot a game of eight ball pool or snooker. When you think of it this way to set up doesn't actually seem all that bad. ( oh you could easily walk downstairs with your scotch and play in the rec room. Hell, you might even have a bar down there, so there wouldn't be a need to carry your scotch all the way down the stairs after all.

Having a pool table next to a dining room has worked for me. My pool table is centered length wise in a 22 X 14 former living room. Off from this area is my dining room, a 14 X 12 foot area. Though the rooms are open to each other, the room decor and styles are similar enough to compliment each other. If classy, "L" shape, or adjacent, it can work.
