History of Russian Billiards in Canada

The history of Russian Billiards in Canada goes back to the end of World War Two. A small group of veteran Canadian military officers met at The Royal Canadian Military Institute (RCMI) on University Avenue in Toronto and commenced playing their own "Canadian" version of Russian Billiards rather than snooker.

Following that, Russian Billiards became "the game of choice" and is still played in the billiards room at the RCMI today.

Canadian Russian Billiards is also played at the Trafalgar/Pro Patria Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion on Gorge Road in Victoria, B.C., by members of the Snooker and Russian Billiards group within the Victoria Men's Newcomers Club.
