On a coin-op pool table, when you scratch and also pocket the 8 ball on the break shot, the player loses the game.
From the coin-op 8 ball rules:
Loss of Game - In Coin operated 8 Ball, a loss of game occurs if a player:
- Pockets the 8 ball in any pocket other than the one designated by his or her call.
- Pockets the 8 ball on the same stroke as the last of his group.
- Fouls when pocketing the 8 ball.
- Pockets the 8 ball when it is not currently the legal object ball.
Taking it one step further, the World Pool-Billiard Association rules for 8 ball pool tell us that scratching (or jumping the cue ball off of the table) results in a foul.
See the answers on Sinking Eight Ball On Opening Break for details on specifically which sections of the official rules apply in this scenario (and what the normal, non-coin-op outcome would be).
However, since you're on a coin-operated pool table, you're not getting the 8 ball back once it is pocketed, and so, players can't carry out the standard 8 ball rules for this scenario. In this case we look to the coin-op 8 ball rules (shown above) for a ruling, which we know is loss-of-game.
