A snooker cue must be a minimum length of 3ft, (appx 90cm/36in) and there is no maximum length. According to the WPBSA rules:

    3. Cue

A cue shall be not less than 3ft (914mm) in length and shall show no substantial departure from the traditional and generally accepted shape and form.

I heard that the 3 foot minimum was introduced when a player once tried to use a snooker cue stick about the length of a pencil to play a shot from inside the pack of red balls.

Not sure who this snooker player was.
