Harrington Billiards Company info

Hi to everyone, I'm new to this forum. Has anyone ever heard of a table made by the Harrington Billiards Company? It has a plate with that name on it, some patent numbers (last one is 1912), and also says Red Demon Cushions. Can anyone shed light on it? Although no longer in our family (my grandfather had it from 1930 until his death in 1989) there is a slight possibility I may be able to buy it back. It appears to be a 9' table with pockets (not a gully). I'm looking for the city where Harrington was located, business years, cost when new and value today...not in the best of shape, wood finish wise. Thanks!

I too have a very old Harrington Billiards table I'm looking for information on. My table has an original paper tag on the inside of one of the lengthwise supports, that says its from Harrington Billiard Co of Allentown PA. I've tried a web search but haven't come up with anything. My table has wooded ball return gutters. I had it in my Dad's basement for at least 38 years and now I'm moving it to my basement for my son. Have you found out anything?

I also have a Harrington Billiard Table with Red Demon Cushions. It is in excellent condition and has new leather pockets. It is currently up for sale.

I did research Harrington Billiard Company through the Allentown Historical Society several years ago and found out that the company existed between 1929 and 1933. It was located at three different sites in Allentown during the years in business. It was assumed that the company collapsed during the depression.

The tables were well built and mostly used in Pool Halls from the era.

I have owned one of the Harringtons with drop pockets for almost 30years. I also have what appears to be a set of original balls in an old wood box (cracking, so unusable). Its a great table, but always wished I knew more about it. Thanks for the history in these replies. I was never really sure how old it was until now. -Dan (dps61@ptd.net)

Well, a lot has changed since I last posted. I was able to purchase the table for a reasonable amount. The sale also included a wall mounted ball rack, pill bottle, a few sets of balls, cue sticks, and a wall mounted cue rack. I was able to find out from Brunswick that the table is a Mikado, made sometime from 1912 to 1915. They have no additional records. It's likely one of two things happened: 1. The Brunswick table was sold under the Harrington name or at some point...

    1. The cushions were replaced by Harrington.

The 4th Industrial Directiory of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, printed in 1922, lists Harrington Billiards Co. with an address of 28 N 7th St. in Allentown, PA.
