Loose and Wrinkled Pool Table Felt
I have a AMF Playmaster and have been pretty happy with it. The felt is pretty new but i have noticed over the last few days that at 2 of the corners (Diagonally opposite from each other) that the felt is wrinkled and loose. Is it possible to tighten the felt?

Pooltable911 on 7/1/2008 7:46:58 PMHi Scratch, Are you talking about the bed cloth or wrinkles in the rail corners? The bed cloth can be restreched. Rails are a lot harder to fix. Problem with rails is the wrinkles are caused by the mechanic not cheating the cloth when setting the featherstrip. Also the rail cloth is cut real close which makes it hard to work with.

Yeah it is the bed cloth. Though now that i look the felt on the underside of the top rail is also wrinkled but being that is on the underside of the rail it shouldn't effect play should it?
I kinda pulled and smoothed out those wrinkles in the corners on the bed felt out towards the middle of the table and now they are gone. I am sure that is only a temporary solution though.

I have an old 7" bar pool table and I replaced the felt last fall. Everything was great for the past six-seven months until today when I noticed wrinkles appearing on the bed. My wife thinks that the felt material is made from wool and suggested heating the wrinkled areas with her hair dryer (since wool shrinks with heat) and that seemed to have resolved the problem for now.
My suspicion is that I stretched the fabric when cleaning it over-zealously with my brush made specifically for pool tables.
Time will tell.
