How to Move Pool Table Slate?

I am worried about how to properly move pool table slate pieces.

I just bought a 7 ft slate bed pool table. I managed to get hold of a transit van and a couple strong lads.

The question I have is about transporting the slate. Is it best to lay the slate flat on some blankets and then lay the base of the table on top of the slate, or is it best to have the slate upright and strapped to the side of the van?

   Best bet is to contact any local Billiard Pool table distributor. I'll do a search right now and see what I can find.

   When my slates arrived, they were positioned mostly vertically held to the sides (80-85 degrees: where 90 is vertical) of the van by heavy straps and blankets underneath.
