Help Identifying Pre-1941 8ft CP Dean Pool Table

Help Identifying Pre-1941 8ft CP Dean Pool Table

I have a Pre-1941 8ft pool table that was placed in our home prior to construction being completed in 1941. It stayed in the same home for two generations. There is a placard that lists C.P dean(Richmond, VA) as the manufacturer. Our table appears similar to C.P. Dean's Greenbrier model. The table appears to be one slate piece and needs TLC on the felt and pockets.

Any thoughts on the value or origin of this table or accessories? We are looking to sell to a new home looking to restore it(seller to pay for professional disassembly and moving costs).

I am located in Portsmouth, VA. Your thoughts and insights on this table are appreciated.

It would appear you've already identified the brand by virtue of the manufacturer's "tag."

What the table may be worth is difficult to guess because photos do not reveal critical components that determine "value."

The slate thickness and condition are key. Next, the rails and pockets, then the frame "system" that holds the whole thing together.

I see good quality used tables and some new ones (Costco - for example) in the 8 - 9 foot range for 2-3K. When considering a used table, disassembly is required - as is re-assembly after transport from point 'A' to point 'B'. Usually, the felt is so compromised by removal and replacement, most simply replace the felt - which runs around 100-200 for the cloth alone. The labor however is "free" because the table cannot be disassembled without the cloth being removed...

Unless the table has some "hidden" collector value, being old is not a plus. And, BTW, those cue sticks might make good kindling, but are likely worthless for play?

    Zeke,

Thank you for your input! Hopefully, we can find a buyer!

We found Craig's list to be a great vehicle for buying or selling billiard equipment.

    Good luck.
