Why Can't I Get Any Offers on This Balabushka Cue?

Why Can't I Get Any Offers on This Balabushka Cue?

I need help satisfying or quelling any reservations that prospective buyers might have to hold them back from making an offer on this/my Blabushka Cue. You can review my For Sale post under: 1967 Balabushka Cue For Sale / Tascarella LOA

I know there are only a few people in the world that would or could spend in the $8,000 range on a cue, so I realize my target audience is very limited.

I would like to learn what some of the reasons are these few prospective buyers might have for not making an offer on my cue.

Here are some of the details I have added to help verify the authenticity and provenance of the cue:

  1. Paid $200 plus shipping to have Peter A. Tascarella Sr. personally inspect the cue and verify in writing the cues authenticity and condition. I have the triangle shaped Fed-Ex shipping tube with Peter Tascarella's hand writing on the shipping label along with the actual signed Letter Of Authentication Peter provides with his service.

  2. I am willing to let the buyer choose a mutually agreed upon Escrow Service Provider to act as the mediator, endorser and provide the buyer and me the seller with confidence with the transaction and to demonstrate my transparency and honesty. (People have suggested that I send the cue to any one of the well known and respected people that sell cues on consignment to give the buyer confidence with their purchase. I understand that concept, but we can use the same well known and respected person to act as the Escrow Service Provider at a lower cost than consignment fee and help keep the final sale price lower while still providing the same transaction security benefits if we used their higher priced Consignment Services.)

  3. I have over 20 photos of the cue and original case I offer to provide to prospective buyers plus I am willing to take new personalized photos of the cue to prove I have the cue in my possession. For example, I will write I prospective buyers name or choice of code word on a sheet of paper and include that in a photo of the cue.

  4. I am willing to meet the prospective buyer in person to inspect the cue and LOA before any money changes hands.

  5. I have a hand written letter of acquisition from the original owner with a detailed description of how the cue was acquired from George Balabushka in Georges garage. The original owner has also agreed to let the prospective buyer contact him about the cue.

  6. I am willing to keep the deal private, so nobody(other than the possible Escrow Service Provider)will know that the buyer has purchased the cue or the amount of money involved with the transaction. We can require that the Escrow Service Provider is to not divulge any information about the transaction to maintain our privacy.

Please let me know any information you can provide to help me sell this cue.

I think you hit it on the head there. I believe you haven't reached your audience. You may want to try somewhere like http://www.sothebys.com/ that may have people looking for items that have a lot of expendable or investment income.

    Thank you for the suggestion.

The reservations I have about using Sothebys is that they need to take possession of the cue and will charge a handling fee weather the cue sells or not.

Sending the cue to Sothebys eliminates all other possible channels for completing the transaction.

There is also no reasonable assurance that a desirable number of cue collectors and or prospective buyers will be using Sothebys to search for a Balabushka cue weather it be intentionally searching for or accidentally discovering my cue.
