What Kind Of Leather Is Used In Leather Burnishers

What Kind Of Leather Is Used In Leather Burnishers

I can't buy a leather burnisher in the country I am living in right now, so if I can find some alternative to the leather burnisher, then I would be happy.

But I need to know the kind of leather or other material is used in the typical leather burnisher.

Does anybody know?

If you are talking about the tip on the cue stick, I burnish mine with a little spit (saliva) and a brown paper bag. Moisten the edge of the tip (edge only), take a brown paper bag strip and wrap around the tip. Then with as much pressure as your fingres can muster, spin the cue and generate heat at the edge of the tip and the bag. When your fingers are just about hot enough to blister, the tip is done.

I don't know about anything other than cue tips.

i ment the leather burnisher for the shaft, to clean and seal the wood of the shaft. cause i dont like to use sandpaper, it just takes off the wood, dont like this. for example the leather burnisher from tiger' products.

You can get the chalk, skin particles, grease of fthe shaft with alcohol and a terry cloty towel. Then burnish as above with a brown paper bag.

Alternately a Magic Eraser is supposed to work well

Once you get you shaft clean, use 10 coats of Carnuba Car wax on the shaft, letting each coat dry andthen buff. Once this process is complete, the shaft is easier to clean, you don't need talc, and it slides like silk.

But can this procedure also seal the wood for moisture resistance?

The wax definately seals the wood. But if you feel anything on the shaft, you can burnish the shaft with the paper bag trick as above.

Thanks, thanks, thanks. according my research I can confirm that this is the BEST.

    1. cleaning with 90+% iso alcohol with a cotton towel
    2. burnishing with brown paper
    3. waxing with carn(a)uba wax

A dollar bill aroud the shaft works well. Just be careful not to burn yourself.

Press the edge of the tip against the rail and roll it while applying pressure. Then apply a little nose-oil and burnish the tip of the rail cloth.

He's talking about the shaft. Not the cue tip.
