layered tip question

layered tip question

Sorry if this has been asked before, hard to sort through all the topics. I was told by a friend that certain tip tools like the 'tip pik' and other needle type pricking tools can not be used on layered tips else it will ruin them. Is this true?

Thanks

Layered tips need to be "dressed" from the center towards the edge in order to avoid lifting the glue between the layers (delaminating).

I use a coarse finger nail file (80 grit) and just stroke (pull) the file from the center towards the edge. As long as you pull fron center to edge, you won't delaminate the layered tip.
