Lesson with Mike Sigel today!

Lesson with Mike Sigel today!

Wow! I had my first of three lessons with Mike Sigel today. I'm excited! Here is a run-down of how it went:

  • He said that the only one with a better stroke than mine was his! He also said that I do a lot of things right!
  • He did find that I put left english on shots that I cut the ball to the left. I don't do it otherwise. I'm hoping that my new glasses will help with that. They should be here any day now.
  • He said that even when I make the ball cut left, they go in "funny". He also said that it is why I'm missing a lot of balls.
  • He also wants me to use my pre-shot strokes more closely at the correct speed for the shot I'm about to shoot. Apparently on some shots I take too slow of a back swing, then come thru the shot too hard. He wants me to be slow on the easy, slow shots, and firmer and faster on the more speedy shots. Better rhythm.
  • He gave me a few drills to work on and gave me a lot of insights to how he plays and how he sets up to the shots.

It was well worth it, and I'll go back in a week or two for lesson two.

Good for you. Let me guess; Mother Drills?

Well to be honest, I don't know what Mother Drills are? I guess I should search for them? He has me cutting fairly short shots with a half tip of english to the right on all cuts to the left. He has me trying to get just the right (slight) amount of spin off the rail using low along with it. And a little less low and just a little harder strokes with half tip of english to move back to center table and up to the head rail area.
