9ball or 8ball?

9ball or 8ball?

Which game do you like more? And why?

9 ball or 8 ball?

Ok, so I'm kinda bored and watching the damn snow fall AGAIN...sigh No golf for me.

I like 9 ball a little more than 8 ball, probably because of the strategy aspect and multiple possibilities. Safeties are wonderful fun, nothing like getting in a good defensive battle. Also with nine ball, I see it as really just me against 9 little balls of joy and position is absolutely crucial. I suppose all the same can be said for 8 ball but...umm, I just like 9 ball better!

I play 8-ball more often. 8-ball has a different kind of strategy--especially if you play 1-15. I am good with working in tight quarters and making a string of shots requiring delicate position. I am not so good at long shots with exotic cut angles that require lots of speed and english to deliver the cue ball to where another good shot on a single ball exists.

I am also biased because 1/2 of the time I play on pay machines and 9-ball on pay machines is a waste--in my opinion.

Good point Mitch about the differences in the two games, I guess that's what I was trying to say. I'm kinda the opposite of you, I like the long shots and lots of english use, and a more open table. 1-15 is very fun too. If I'm on a coin-op I will still play 9 and use the remaining high balls for practice, rail shots, banks or whatever I need to work on. I never let them go, 50 cents is still 50 cents =) This brings me to another question however. Why is it on ESPN I never see or here about 8 ball matches? It's all 9ball or speed pool challenge or trick shots. Is there big money, big name 8 ball? Or is all the money really in 9? APA 8 ball is very competetive, fun and entertaining, so why does it take a back seat to 9? I guess that's like 4 questions in one, but whatever. Thanks.

I stay playing 8 ball. But honestly, why do I play most of the time these days? To entertain my drunk buddies who are in town and to hang out with chicks. Just the truth, ha! But even without either of those situations, I prefer 8 ball... why mess with a classic?
