Will this Room Work for a 7' or 8' Pool Table?

Will this Room Work for a 7' or 8' Pool Table?

First the room itself is not big enough. It is wide enough, but the length is not. I have 14' wide by 13.6' length. However, the 13.6' length is from a wall to a single step up, which becomes our "doorway/hallway" which becomes our dining room. meaning there is only a post about 3 to 4' from the step.

I have uploaded two photos of the room.

Now, the other slight issue, is that you can see that nice big French Doors with glass. However, that would be the end that you would break from. So you break shooting away from the glass. Also there are wood shutters on the door, and the door can be opened when playing.

If you look at the picture taken with my back to that door, you will see the step and the openness after the step.

Sorry for them being sideways. Thought they would show up the other way.

What do you think? Wishful thinking on my part? I was hoping for an 8ft. But would consider 7ft.

A 7' pool table requires a room of dimension 13' x 16'(lx b) for a 58" cue.Your room dimension is fine for putting a pool table. You can adjust a pool table of 7' but 8' requires more width of a room.

I know this is "incorrect" but, playing on a table other than a 9-footer is akin to play a round of golf and not playing the 18th.

Or, bowling and walking away after 9 frames. Or playing cards with a 51-card deck.

Yes. Yes. I know we play baseball on varying size fields, and shoot guns at 25 yards, 100 yards, etc. but I've always considered a 9' table to be "regulation" and anything less as a wannabe.

Sounds like this choice is an 8 or a 7 - or not play at all?

No brainer. Both the 7 and 8 are lookin' good.

As an update. The 8ft fits perfectly. While there is one place where you would need a shorter cue stick, I bought one that works fantastically. But otherwise, I can shoot from anywhere in the room.

Here are some shots of the room with the table.

    Thanks for everyone's advice.
