Protect Carpet Under a Pool Table

Protect Carpet Under a Pool Table

I have new tenants moving in to my rental house, and they have a pool table. I'd like to find a way to protect the carpet as much as possible. The pile is 5/8". What suggestions do you have for minimizing permanent dents in the carpet (maybe stands of plywood with nails going through them, covered by a piece of steel, or something similar?)? They plan to stay 4 years, until their second child graduates high school. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Unless they are model tenants, the rug won't be re-usable again until it's cleaned/shampooed. At that time, a steaming system might get it back up?

Of course the fact that those four points won't see the light of day for 4+ years anyhow, suggests absolutely no fading and thus, a four polka dot rug is inevitable.

    Interesting question.
