Cutthroat Variation - Any Others?

Cutthroat Variation - Any Others?

There are many variations on Cutthroat Billiards, especially the games that I have seen. I figure that since it is a friendly, casual, and a rather informal billiard game, you should just decide amoung yourselves with which rules you shall want to play.

We often play "suicide mode" and sink our own balls if we want to get position for another shot. Whether or not slop stays down is a point of contention across variations.

Another, is that when a player scratches, the other two players get a ball spotted.

This question relates to the following billiard rules:

Is the spot typically at the opposite side of the break?

Scenario: We played the OPPOSITE of Cut-throat and instead of prolonging the game, we shoot our own balls and played with four players instead of three.

    My questions are:

    1. Is there a name for this Variant of the cutthroat pool game?
    2. Is there a RULE, that if you scratch you are to pull up one of your own balls and place it back on the table?
