Gandy table, good buy or stay away?

Gandy table, good buy or stay away?

Hi,

I am a brand new forum member and appreciate any help/advice you can give me.

I am looking to purchase a table. Everything I do, I want done right and want to have products that, if needed, I can advance on to a competitive level and don't need upgrading if I get more serious at the sport/game.

With that being said, I am looking at a sea of used tables out there and am very confused as to the table I should choose to put in my house.

Attached is a table that a friend has. All I know is that it is an 8' table, quite old and a Gandy. It appeals to my wife and I for its more "clunky" style but I want to know if it is a good buy or what price would make it a good buy? I am assuming that I will move it, re-felt it, and replace the bumpers for about $600 total.

Any details about the Gandy name or table specifics would really help. They are out of biz and info is hard to come by.

Thanks.
