Buying a Used Pool Table

Buying a Used Pool Table

I am new to this forum and the entire pool scene in general.

I considering buying a basic pool table for the family to use in the house. Now I have been looking at non slate tables just because of the cost and I'm wondering...

  1. What the incentives are for buying a non slate table as apposed to slate tables?
  2. Do non slate pool tables wear faster then slate pool tables?
  3. Are non slate pool tables able to be moved in one piece or would I have to disassemble them and hire a professional for the move?

1st of all let me encourage you to register and become more involved here. There is a lot of info here. I figured out real quick that my budget will not allow a new table in my future. However my budget will let me get a good used table. I have my eyes on two tables as we type. I'm going to look at one tomorrow with my installer. I'll trust his judgement.. If this one doesn't work out another one will. Wait and save up a few more buck and get a slate table. It will last you for years and have more resell value. Look in the paper and on craigslist. It might have some nicks and dings but as my wife says. I gives it character. :)
