Billiard Jump Cue

Billiard Jump Cue

The billiard jump cue is specifically designed to help the player make better jump shots. It does this by being designed with specific features that make it optimal for lobbing the cue ball over an object ball properly. Many players also find that billiard jump cues are also optimal for trick shots and artistic billiards.

Billiard Jump Cue

What makes a billiard jump cue different from a regular cue you ask? Well, there are several main differences that set it apart from a regular cue, including length and density. The length of a billiard jump cue is considerably shorter than that of a regular cue. This shortness allows the player to more easily jack up the butt of the cue, which is a common technique for performing jump shots. Generally the shooter raises the cue to form a 45 degree angle with the bed of the billiard table in order to get the proper launch.

Of course, there is some controversy within the billiard community regarding the use of billiard jump cues, mainly because the practice of jumping balls is somewhat controversial. You may have already noticed that certain billiard halls will have notices posted indicating that the practice is prohibited. Their main concerns lie around the possibility of injuring others with flying balls, or of damaging the pool table cloth. Jumping is also typically prohibited within amateur league play.

Regardless of the controversy, there is an undeniable good feeling of "cool" when you are successful at pocketing a jump shot. A billiard jump cue can help you realize this feeling more easily.
