Id Meucci Lock & Key Cue and What is It Worth?

What kind of Meucci cue is this and how much is it worth?

My step father told me its pretty old because the key inlays are slightly raised.

This cue is from the early-mid 1990s.

    It would be either a:

    • Meucci C-6 from the Meucci Classic series (Circa 1993-1994) meucci-c6-lock-key-cue.jpg
    • Meucci 95-29 from the Meucci 95 series (Circa 1995-1996) meucci-95-29-lock-key-cue.jpg

Folks often call it the "Meucci lock and key cue". The design originated in several older Meucci Originals series. The ones above are a remake of that original design (but do differ slightly from the originals designs, and are worth a lot less).

The Meucci C-6 and Meucci 95-29 cues are the same in pretty much every way, including value. It's the same design, just carried on in subsequent series.

If yours has a raised key inlay as you mentioned, it would either be a flaw or damage caused by aging. Not by design.

You'll see them selling for anywhere between $200 and $500 depending on location, condition, and number of straight matching shafts.

$500 would be in "brand new" condition with zero flaws or scuffs.

Yours is scuffed a good deal, and the black in the butt sleeve seems faded quite a bit. A collector would want to restore it. You might get $300 on a good day.

Again, most collectors will be looking for the older "Meucci Originals" version.

I used to own a billiard parlor some years ago. I bought a Meucci Gold Lock And Key cue with birds-eye maple from a customer in 1991. It is super rare as it is a Meucci Originals cue. A year later I called Meucci Factory (which I bought other cues from) and asked about this cue. I had to wait 5 minutes so the girl could find an older man that had knowledge about it.

He told me that they made two "key" cues. One had 22K silver inlay and the other had 22K gold inlay. Meucci stopped making it (my Meucci Originals cue) in 1979. Brand new, the silver version sold for $550 with two shafts and the gold version sold for $750 with two shafts. That was a lot of money back in 1979. He said the silver one was rare and the gold one was super rare! Again this is for the "Meucci Originals" version of the "lock and key" cue. He said if I couldn't get a thousand dollars for it to keep it! This was in 1992.

It is a Meucci MS-4G cue from the Meucci MS series.

I saw one on AZ Billiards that a billiard parlor in Canada had for sale 2 months ago which had a silver lock and key and he was selling it for $400.00. His ad is gone so I can't say if it was a Meucci Originals version or a newer Meucci logo version like yours.

My guess is it was like yours.

Taking that as a barometer, then I would ascertain that $400 USD would be about right. Thus, the other answer with a value of somewhere between $300 and $500 sounds about right for yours.
